1907 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate, designed by E. Plockross, bars the tilte The Little Match Girl. Bing & Grondahl's Christmas plate from 1907 depicts a motif from Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Little Match- girl. This fairy tale is one of the most famous of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales, written and published in Dansk Folkekalender in 1846. Hans Christian Andersen found the inspiration for the story in a drawing by the artist J.T.Lundbye, depicting a little poor girl with a bundle of matches. Hasn Christian Andersen i probably the most widely known Dane. And all over the world people know one or more of his fairy tales.
