Glug-bottle with Lid, glass
During the last 150 years, the glug-bottle
has been produced at Holmegaard. A tall story
tells that the bottle was originally made
by a mistake. A glassblower got the hiccups,
resulting in the air within the bottle, he
was in the middle of making, was being sucked
out instead of blown up. Thereby the sides
collapsed and the middle and the corners
formed columns.
When you are pouring from the bottle
the air resistance makes the glug-sounds,
while the liquid is trying to pass the
narrow columns.
The look of the bottles is charming and the
sounds just an extra bonus.
