1981 Desiree Svend Jensen Christmas plate
The motif of this 1981 Desiree Christmas plate from the Porcelain Factory Desiree, also known as Désirée Denmark, Svend Jensen of Denmark, Old Copenhagen Blue is found in the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale At the Uttermost Parts of the Sea. Hans Christian Andersen tells in his fairytale named "At the Uttermost Parts of the Sea" about the ships, which are sailing by the North Pole. The ships are looking for the borders of the country. Hans Christian Andersen writes about the native people and how they are helping the sailors by giving them some coats. The native people bring the coats to the igloos by their sledges. From their igloos it is possible for the sailors to contemplate the sea with the beautiful but dangerous icebergs. The 1981 Desirée Christmas plate was designed by Svend Otto S.
Désirée started the Christmas plate series in 1970 and ended it in 2002. All motifs of the Hans Christian Andersen Christmas plates from Désirée are inspired by Hans Christian Andersen´s Fairy Tales
