The second plate in a series of twelve.
Thorvaldsen Museum was opened in 1848, to
show works of the artist himself together
with his big collection of paintings and
classic antiques.
Thorvaldsen was born in Copenhagen in 1770.
He lived in Rome Italy for many years
establishing himself as a famous sculptor.
He did not return to Copenhagen until 1838.
The museum was given to his native town as
a present. The artist's grave is situated
in the museum's court
