1991 Christmas of the Crowes, Bing & Grondahl Centennial plate
The motif of this 1991 Bing & Grondahl
Christmas Centennial plate is the same as
the motif of the 1899 Bing & Grondahl
Christmas plate. In 1895 Bing & Grondahl
started the first series of Christmas plates
in the world. To celebrate the 100th
anniversary of the Bing & Grondahl Christmas
plate series, which took place in 1995, Bing
& Grondahl issued The Centennial Collection
which comprises five plates. This plate is
the first plate in the Centennial Collection.
The motif is The Crows Enjoying Christmas
which was designed by Dahl Jensen. The plate
depicts two crows sitting on a branch on
Christmas Eve, looking over the winter
landscape towards a village church, Notmark
Church, on the island of Als in the south of
Jutland. Notmark chuch is a village church,
built in romanesque style of granite
boulders.
