Serving from the spring 1915 until the
closing of World War i the Friedrichshafen
range of 2-seat patrol floatplaens were
probably the most extensively employed
German seaplanes of the war period. Nearly
500 examples of the four models were
completed. Most of them were armed, and
their major duties included coastal and
ocean patrol.
