Shipsplate, The Trainingship Denmark, 1973, Bing & Grondahl
This 1973 Bing & Grondahl Danish Marine plate has the title Danmark. The motif of this 1973 Bing & Grondahl Danish Marine plate shows the Danish Training ship named Danmark which was used from 1933. Danmark has been sailing on expeditions many places. Danmark arrived to New York in 1939 and because of the Second World War the stay became longer than estimated. When Denmark became occupied many members of the crew left the ship to join the war. The captain tried to make an agreement with the American Marine but this didn't succeed until the United States joined the war. Then the Training ship Danmark was used as American Training ship. Danmark returned to Denmark in 1945 and continued to be training ship in Denmark.
