2000 Desiree Svend Jensen Christmas cup WITH NO saucer
The motif of this 2000 Desirée annual cup WITHOUT saucer from The Porcelain Factory Desiree, also known as Désirée Denmark, Svend Jensen of Denmark, Old Copenhagen Blue is The Royal Hunting Castle "Eremitagen". The 2000 Hans Christian Andersen Annual Cup had the same motif as the 2000 Svend Jensen Christmas plate. So the 2000 Desiree Annual Cup and the 2000 Desiree Christmas plate are actaully a beautiful coffee set with plate and cup. This year the motif of the Annual cup is a little different than the previous years. This year the factory has not found the motif in a special Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, but instead found its inspiration in a part of the country as Hans Christian Andersen often was visiting. He spent lots of his summer holidays together with the Melchior Family in their place called "Rolighed". In his diaries from this place Hans Christian Andersen was often writing about Dyrehaven (The Deer Garden) and the Eremitage Palace. The Eremitage Palace, or the Eremitage Hunting Lodge as it is also called, was used by hunting in The Deer Garden. Today the Eremitage Palace is still being used too the annual hunting named "Hubertus". The artist Lis Torbøl designed this Annual cup. Désirée started the Annual cup series in 1982 and ended it in 2001. So 20 different sets were made to complete a perfect coffee set. All motifs of the Hans Christian Andersen annual cups from Désirée are inspired by Hans Christian Andersen´s Fairy Tales.
