1989 Desiree Svend Jensen Christmas cup
The motif of this 1989 Desirée annual cup WITHOUT saucer from The Porcelain Factory Desiree, also known as Désirée Denmark, Svend Jensen of Denmark, Old Copenhagen Blue is found in the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale The Old House. The 1989 Hans Christian Andersen Annual Cup had the same motif as the 1989 Svend Jensen Christmas plate. So the 1989 Desiree Annual Cup and the 1989 Desiree Christmas plate are actaully a beautiful coffee set with plate and cup. Hans Christian Andersen writes so lifelike about The Old House, which is standing side by side with new beautiful houses. The old house seems out of place but it has a special charm. The wide step, the carved window frames and the bay which takes some of the view from the other houses. One day the small boy from the neighbour opposite The Old House visist the old man who is living in The Old House. The old man tells stories about every single furniture in his house. Once again the artist behind many Desiree Annual cups, Svend Otto S., has designed an expressive Annual cup. Désirée started the Annual cup series in 1982 and ended it in 2001. So 20 different sets were made to complete a perfect coffee set. All motifs of the Hans Christian Andersen annual cups from Désirée are inspired by Hans Christian Andersen´s Fairy Tales.
