History of Royal Copenhagen
History of Bing and Grondahl
Through the times, Royal Copenhagen and Bing & Grondahl have produced a vast number of figurines of pets, among them cats. Figurines of cats have been produced since the beginning of the 20. century, but as the cat has been more popular as a pet, figurines depicting cats in different situations have been increased considerable. The cat is an independent hunter, graceful and adroit, a small predator which can be both domestic or wild.
In the last years, the cat has overtaken the dog and has become the most popular pet in Denmark. Today there is more than 600.000 cats in Danish families.
The cat figurine shows the cat in different situations, from the sleeping kitten to the grown up cat.
Below you will find a list of the figurines of cats you will find on our website at the moment. You will find discontinued figurines as well as figurines still in production. Each single cat figurine has been put in to a schedule showing Royal Copenhagens or Bing & Grondahls item number, manufacturer, and, if possbile, the desginer of the figurine. The cat figurines can be divided into two groups, cats together with people and cats alone. Both groups are included in the schedule below, with link to each figurine.
