Before you use a lot of time adding more items to the basked, which you consider to sell, please be aware of the following: We have a comprehensive stock of most collectibles, thus we are mainly interested in items mentioned in our DPH Wanted-list as well as some figurines from Bing & Grøndahl and Royal Copenhagen. If you wish to sell items mentioned in our "Wanted list" and you want to sell other items too, we can now and then offer to buy all your items, as long as there is a sensible proportion between items we wish to buy and items we already have in abundance. No rules without exceptions, so naturally you are always welcome to send an inquiry, or ask in general terms before spending time counting and typing. We will advise you whether there is a possibility that we want to buy - at a decent price. Thank you in advance.
1974 Holmegaard Ship's plate with motif ofHjejlen - The Oldest Paddle-Steamer in Denmark.Inscription:Hjuldamper HjejlenThe beautiful paddle steamer was launchedon May 25th 1861 by Baumgarten and Burmeister in Copenhagen. The vessel wasordered by the founder of the town Silkeborg,Michael Drewsen, an it was the firstpassenger ship on the Silkeborg lakes. Itwas called the Hjejlen ( The Golden Plover)after the bird which, at that time, was atypical inhabitant of the moors. Today the bird has been almost crowded out, and in theSilkeborg district the boat's whistle ismore often heard than that of the bird. After considerable towing difficulties the Hjejlen was able to moor along its futureberth on June 18th 1861, and on June 24th its inauguration took place with KingFrederik VII on board. The Hjejlen has undergone some changessince then. As early as 1871 the mast was removed and the funnel arranged to bend backwards when the boat went under the railway bridge.A rail was put up all the way round, and theoriginal steam boiler- an ordinary locomotive boiler- has been replaced. The Hjejlen was equipped with an engine room telegraph and an enclosed wheel house. The Hjejlen is still in regular service, and the good ship carries thousands oftourists from Silkeborg to Himmelbjerget(The Heaven Mountain) and back again every year.
