The Royal Copenhagen collectibles and decorations for the year 2018 have been released!
In addition to the Christmas plate, the motif always repeats on the Christmas cup, the Christmas bell and the Christmas drops, as well as the annual figurine showing the dove from the Christmas plate flying over the Christmas tree market on the Christmas plate.
This year we see a Christmas tree market at Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen. The 2018 Christmas plate share the motif of King Nytorv with the Christmas plate from 2016. The difference is the angle, at which the square is seen. Kongens Nytorv is among others surrounded by the Royal Theater, Magasin du Nord, d'Angleterre and Charlottenburg Castle. The square was inaugurated by Christian V as a new center for Copenhagen instead of Gammeltorv, located up the street Strøget from Rådhuspladsen (Town Square).
Kongens Nytorv today forms one end of Strøget, where the town hall square is the other end. Each December,Kongens Nytorv forms a framework for a skating rink, which can be seen on the 2016 Christmas Plate and a big Christmas market, where Christmas trees are sold, as seen on this Christmas plate. As you choose Christmas tree, you can also enjoy the mood with the many cozy stalls and taste the Christmas candy and the mulled wine.
You can also enjoy the beautiful Christmas decoration, which is set up every year at the hotel d'Angleterre. The square lies where Østerport was located until 1647, and Kongens Nytorv was built here in 1670.
This year's Christmas album and the accompanying series have been drawn by the artist Allan Therkelsen this year.
This year Santa Claus has been happy with his bag filled with presents, and as the happy giver that Saint Nicolaus is, he pours out his toys for the children of the world and childish souls.
The Christmas tree 2018 has beautiful white loops and a chain of red Christmas balls around and the year 2018 stands beautiful at the foot of the tree.
Santa Claus and Christmas Tree 2018 is by Sven Vestergaard. Royal Copenhagen's beautiful Christmas series is a piece of art, each year returning in a new design and continuing the now more than a hundred years old tradition.
