Christian Blache (1838-1920), marine painter. Well-known marine painter, he helped trained one of our other great marine painters, namely Christian Benjamin-Olsen. He has painted the motif of two Royal Copenhagen memorial plaques.

Christian Blache was an apprentice shipbuilder for two years before he realised that his calling was to be a marine painter. He started exhibiting in 1863 and won many medals.

He was part of the plenar assembly of the Art Academy from 1888, from whom he had received two annual medals.

He is viewed as one of the early Skaw painters.
