Royal Copenhagen Girl from Funen figure no. 12420 or 256

Girl from Funen from Royal Copenhagen is a porcelain figurine with a calm, present expression and a beautiful story about Danish folk costume and local traditions. The figurine shows a seated girl with a slightly bowed head and a small bouquet of flowers in her hands, which gives the motif a quiet and reflective mood. The girl from Funen is rendered with great attention to the character of the costume, from the orange headscarf and the long sleeves to the apron with blue checks and the floral bodice.

It is precisely this combination of national costume, hand-painted details and natural posture that makes the figurine so appealing as a collectible and as decoration in the home. The flowers in her hands add colour and life, while the fine folds in the skirt and apron emphasise the figure's form and craftsmanship quality. The overglaze technique gives the clear colours and the small decorations a lively and nuanced expression that suits the motif particularly well.

The figurine is modelled by Carl Martin-Hansen, who is known for his human figures with personality and sensitivity. Here, Royal Copenhagen's porcelain tradition is united with a motif that appeals both to collectors of Danish porcelain figurines and to those who appreciate figures with cultural history and character. A figure like this fits beautifully in a display cabinet, on a shelf or as part of a collection of figures in folk costumes and child motifs.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to add soul and history to the home. They are created to last, to be cared for and passed on, and that is precisely why they are also a meaningful choice for those who appreciate classic design, good craftsmanship and the joy of giving beautiful quality objects new life.
