Rörstrand Father's Day plates from 1971 to 1987

Rörstrand released its first Father's Day plate in 1971, and until 1987 a new plate was released every year. The motifs are taken from works by the Swedish artist Carl Larsson and reproduced in blue underglaze on white porcelain.

Each year has its own motif, while the decorative border along the edge repeats throughout the series. This makes the plates easy to recognize and creates a clear connection between the different years.

Carl Larsson is especially known for his pictures of people, home, and everyday life in Sweden. Rörstrand has used motifs from his works on both Father's Day and Mother's Day plates, where the images are transferred to porcelain in the characteristic blue decoration.
