Heinrich Christmas plates from Edelstein to Heinrich
Heinrich Christmas plates are a series of blue and white plates with Christmas and winter motifs that change from year to year. The series includes snowy landscapes, churches, horse-drawn sleighs, children, elves, Christmas trees, and animals.
The first editions are marked Edelstein, while the name Heinrich takes over from 1978. Therefore, you can encounter both factory names when looking at the plates from the series.
From Edelstein to Heinrich
The Christmas plates were originally released under the name Edelstein. When Heinrich took over Edelstein in the 1970s, the series continued, and from 1978 the plates were marked Heinrich.
Editions up to and including 1977 therefore have the Edelstein mark on the back, while plates from 1978 onwards bear the Heinrich name. On several of the later editions, the name Villeroy & Boch can also be seen, which took over Heinrich in 1976.

Christmas and winter motifs from year to year
The blue and white decoration is consistent throughout the series, but the motif changes each year. Some plates depict winter landscapes with snow, mountains, houses, and churches, while others focus on Christmas and the season around it.
Here you will find motifs including children by the Christmas tree, elves, horse-drawn sleighs, and animals. The motifs vary, but the blue and white decoration ties the editions together.
Many plates have the designation Echt Kobalt on the back. This refers to the cobalt blue decoration used on the plates.
Use Heinrich Christmas plates on the table
The Heinrich and Edelstein Christmas plates measure 22 cm in diameter and can be used for eating. This makes them suitable for lunch, Christmas lunch, cake, and dessert.
They also tolerate dishwasher use and can therefore easily be used on the table. Mix various editions on the Christmas table, choose motifs you like, or find a year with special meaning.
Use Christmas plates on the wall
Heinrich Christmas plates can of course also be used on the wall. Several editions have the possibility for hanging on the back, making them easy to hang up.
You can choose a single edition or collect several motifs on the same wall. The blue and white decoration repeats, so the plates match well together even though the motifs are different.
