Egemose Father's Day plates with motifs from old crafts

Egemose Father's Day plates show old crafts and trades in detailed brown motifs on white porcelain. Each edition tells about a new profession and shows both the craftsman, the workplace, and the tools that were used.

The first Egemose Father's Day plate was released in 1972, the year after Egemose Porcelain in Næstved had published its first Mother's Day plate. The motif was an old village smith, and the plate became the beginning of the series Old Crafts and Trades.

Originally, the series was supposed to consist of only 12 editions, but it was later extended, so even more old crafts and trades could become part of the series.

From village smith and farmer to watchmaker and porcelain painter

Each edition in the series shows a new craft or trade. Among the motifs are sea fishing, harvesting with binder, mason, carpenter, forest worker, chimney sweep, shoemaker, watchmaker, tailor, potter, glassblower, and porcelain painter.

There are many details in the motifs, and both tools, equipment, and surroundings help tell the story of the work. On the 1981 Father's Day plate, for example, a watchmaker is seen at his workbench surrounded by watches, tools, screws, and small parts for the watch mechanisms.

The plates have a white base with decoration in brown shades. Along the edge, each plate is decorated with tools or symbols matching the craft shown in the center.

Choose an Egemose Father's Day plate by year or motif

Many choose an Egemose Father's Day plate by a specific year, but the motifs also make it possible to find a plate that matches a particular profession or interest.

The 1974 plate, for example, shows a farmer harvesting with a binder, while other editions can fit masons, carpenters, watchmakers, shoemakers, and chimney sweeps among others.

An Egemose Father's Day plate can be chosen as a gift for Father's Day, birthday, or anniversary. Some choose by year, while others find a plate with a craft or trade that suits the recipient. Several editions can also be collected and hung up together.

Use the plates on the table or as wall decoration

Egemose Father's Day plates measure 17 cm in diameter and have a size that makes them suitable as small plates for breakfast, lunch, cake, or dessert.

The decoration lies under the glaze, and the plates can withstand dishwasher. They also have hanging holes on the back and can therefore also be hung on the wall with plate hooks, either individually or together with several editions from the series.
