Bing & Grøndahl man with pitchfork figure no. 2049

This Bing & Grøndahl figure no. 2049 depicts a man with a pitchfork in a quiet moment from rural life. The figure has a natural and down-to-earth expression, where the man stands relaxed and leans forward over the handle, while a sheaf or bundle of grain is modeled beside him. The motif brings to mind harvest, farm life and the traditional work in the countryside, and precisely for that reason it is ideal for collectors of agricultural figures, peasant figures and classic porcelain figures from the Danish design tradition.

The porcelain figure is executed in underglaze and appears in subdued shades with light tones, a brown vest, hat and pitchfork as well as a base that supports the rural motif. The slender posture and the fine transitions in the modeling give the figure life, without the expression becoming solemn. This is an occupational figure with a clear connection to agriculture and the work of the hands, and that makes it both decorative and narrative in the interior.

Bing & Grøndahl is known for porcelain figures with character and atmosphere, and this model fits beautifully among other figures with motifs from everyday life, craftsmanship and life in the countryside. It can stand alone in a display cabinet collection, on a shelf with Danish porcelain or be combined with other figures from the same universe if you want a more cohesive story in the interior.

Older porcelain figures like this have a special ability to add personality and history to the home. When you choose vintage porcelain and classic collector's figures, it is at the same time a way to appreciate good craftsmanship and give beautiful quality objects new life in a modern home. That makes the figure an obvious gift idea for collectors or for you who are fond of Danish porcelain with a motif from farming life and harvest.
