Royal Copenhagen turkey figurine no. 1065 Christian Thomsen

Royal Copenhagen turkey figurine no. 1065 is a striking bird figurine in porcelain, where Christian Thomsen has given the characteristic turkey an almost sculptural expression. The figurine stands frontally with a broadly spread tail, and it is precisely this upright, almost ceremonial posture that gives it a strong presence in the room. It is a porcelain figurine that catches the eye with its calm symmetry and its clear sense of volume.

In the pictures, the turkey is seen modelled in white underglaze with soft grey-toned nuances in the plumage. The pink neck skin and the naturalistically executed legs and claws create a fine contrast to the light glaze and emphasize the figurine's lifelike expression. The large tail fan is a central element in the design and gives the model a handsome width, which makes it particularly suitable as a bird figurine in a display cabinet, on a shelf, or as part of a collection of Royal Copenhagen animal figurines.

Christian Thomsen is known for figurines with precise modelling and a sure eye for the animals' form and posture, and that is clearly felt here. The turkey appears both calm and powerful, and that combination makes figurine no. 1065 interesting for both collectors and for those seeking classic Danish porcelain design with a motif from the bird world. It fits beautifully together with other animal figurines, but can also stand alone as a decorative feature with history and personality.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special charm because they are created with a durability and a craftsmanship that still make them relevant in modern interior design. Choosing a vintage Royal Copenhagen figurine is at the same time a way to give beautiful Danish design new life and let quality objects continue to create joy in new surroundings. The figurine is also an obvious gift idea for collectors, bird enthusiasts, or anyone who appreciates porcelain art with character.
