Karl Hansen-Reistrup was both painter, sculptor, illustrator and ceramist. He is known for his many concrete lions that adorn Næstved, Denmark. Furthermore he is known for the many vases he made in Kähler's factory in Næstved.
Originally he was an apprentice at Royal Copenhagen and started at Kähler's factory in 1888, where he later became artistic director. He produced many successfull designs in vases and jars that were often decorated in the well-known Kähler red.
