Bing & Grondahl and Royal Copenhagen both manufactures a Christmas drop every year. B&G started their series of Christmas drops in 1985, while Royal Copenhagen first started its production in 1991. Although Royal Copenhagen today is the largest manufacturer of porcelain in Denmark, Christmas drops from Bing & Grondahl are still the best known and this series have many collectors. Perhaps because many started their collection with Bing & Grondahl and therefore continued this even though Royal Copenhagen also offered a Christmas drop.

Bing & Grondahl Christmas drops can be recognized partly because of the factory mark and because the motif is shown on both sides of the Christmas drop. At the Royal Copenhagen Christmas drop the motif is only shown on one side, while on the other the year and the three waves are shown.
