Bing & Grøndahl seagull with fish figurine no. 1808 or 428

This porcelain figurine of a seagull with fish captures a vivid moment from the world of the coast. The bird is modeled low and streamlined, with the fish securely in its beak, giving the figurine a fine sense of movement and lifelike character. The soft transitions in the gray and white shades emphasize the calm expression of the motif, while the darker tail feathers with light spots give the figurine extra life.

The figurine was made for Bing & Grøndahl and is associated with Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen, who is known for his convincing animal figurines and confident formal language. Here, Danish porcelain tradition, underglaze technique, and the sense for animal motifs come together in a figurine that appears both classic and easy to place in a modern home. It is precisely the type of porcelain figurine many collectors look for when searching for B&G bird figurines, seagulls, and older Danish design with a maritime touch.

The seagull fits beautifully into a collection of bird figurines from Bing & Grøndahl - Royal Copenhagen, but it also works well on its own on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or as a small detail on the desk. The maritime motif makes it ideal in a home where one wants a Nordic and personal expression. As an older figurine, it also contains the special joy that lies in preserving fine craftsmanship and allowing porcelain with history to gain new life in the interior.

The current title text mentions both figurine no. 1808 and 428, and both numbers have therefore been retained here to make the figurine easier to find for collectors and buyers searching for this particular model. A decorative porcelain figurine with a clear identity, finely modeled motif, and strong connection to Danish porcelain history.
