Bing & Grøndahl Boy with Dog figurine no. 1951 or 440

Boy with dog is a classic Bing & Grøndahl figurine that captures a quiet and warm moment between child and animal. The motif shows a little boy sitting on the floor with his arms around his dog, bent closely forward in a dear and intimate embrace. It is a porcelain figurine with a motif that speaks directly to collectors of child figurines, animal figurines and Danish porcelain with human closeness and storytelling.

Ingeborg Plockross-Irminger was known for her vivid and sensitive figurines, and that is clearly felt here. The composition is calm and natural, while the soft forms give the figurine a gentle expression. In the pictures, the boy is seen in light clothing with a blue top, while the dog is rendered in warm brown shades. Together, the colors create a fine contrast that highlights both the motif and the details of the figurine.

As a porcelain figurine from Bing & Grøndahl, it is executed in underglaze, which gives a beautiful, durable surface and the characteristic depth in the glaze. The figurine fits well into a collection of B&G child figurines, but also stands strongly on its own in a bookcase, on a chest of drawers or in a display cabinet, where its intimate motif really comes into its own. For many, it will also be an obvious gift idea for the dog lover or for the collector who is fond of figurines with children and animals.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to bring personality into the home. They are created with care and craftsmanship quality, and for that very reason it makes good sense to let them live on from generation to generation. A figurine like this unites collecting joy, Danish design history and sustainable pleasure in choosing something that has already proven its value.
