Royal Copenhagen The Little Mermaid figurine no. 225

Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 225 depicts The Little Mermaid from H.C. Andersen's beloved fairy tale. The figurine is designed as the young mermaid, sitting on a rock and gazing dreamily to the side, while the green tail folds around the stone. The soft shapes and the calm expression give the figurine a poetic atmosphere, which suits beautifully the tale of longing, sea and adventure.

The colours are kept in a subdued and harmonious scale, where the green mermaid tail stands in fine contrast to the light rock and the delicate details around her. On the base are maritime elements such as shell and starfish, and together with the coral shapes behind the figurine, they emphasise the connection to life beneath the surface of the sea. This makes this porcelain figurine a decorative collector's item, but also a figurine with a clear story and identity.

This Royal Copenhagen figurine belongs to the series of H.C. Andersen Figurines, which consists of 6 figurines with the motifs The Little Mermaid, Clumsy Hans, The Swineherd, The Flying Trunk, Thumbelina and Ole Lukøje. For collectors of fairy tale figurines and Danish porcelain, no. 225 is therefore an obvious choice, both as a single figurine and as part of a complete series. The underglaze technique contributes to the figurine's clear surface and lasting expression.

The Little Mermaid is a figurine that fits well into the home of those who are fond of Danish design, fairy tales and classic collectibles. It can be placed in a bookcase, in a display cabinet or as an atmospheric detail on a shelf together with other figurines from the same series. As a gift, it is also an obvious choice for an H.C. Andersen enthusiast or for the collector who appreciates porcelain with history and a world of motifs.
