Bing & Grøndahl seagull figurine no. 1727, 27 cm

This Bing & Grøndahl seagull figurine no. 1727 captures something of the most characteristic aspects of the bird life along the coast. The gull is modeled with an open beak and raised head, as if it has just struck up its familiar sound over beach, harbor, or dune landscape. The long, streamlined body and the slightly raised tail give the figurine a sense of movement and presence, even when it stands completely still.

The color scheme emphasizes the lifelike expression. The figurine appears with a white underside, soft gray shades over the back and wings as well as darker markings on the head, tail, and wingtips. This gives the porcelain figurine a calm, maritime character that fits beautifully into both classic and modern interiors. As a bird figurine, it has an expression that appeals both to collectors of Bing & Grøndahl and to those who appreciate Danish porcelain with a nature motif.

Model 1727 is made of porcelain and specified with underglaze, a classic production technique that many associate with traditional Danish porcelain art. The smooth glaze and the balanced colors suit the motif well and highlight the bird's form in a discreet and convincing way. At the same time, the seagull is a figurine that creates an eye-catching effect without seeming heavy in the room.

Older porcelain figurines like this bring both history and personality into the home. They are created to last a long time and can find new life in a contemporary home, where they add soul and character on a sideboard, in a bookcase, or in a display cabinet. For the collector, this is a classic Bing & Grøndahl bird figurine, and as a gift it is ideal for anyone with an interest in birds, maritime atmosphere, or Danish design tradition.
