Bing & Grøndahl Sparrowhawk figurine no. 1892 Niels Nielsen

Bing & Grøndahl sparrowhawk figurine no. 1892 is a striking porcelain figurine with a calm, concentrated expression. The bird stands upright on a nature-shaped base and is modelled with the characteristic blend of precision and softness that makes classic Danish bird figurines so sought after. The warm brownish tones on the back and wings play beautifully together with the light breast side, where the fine transverse markings emphasise the bird of prey's vivid expression.

The figurine is designed by Niels Nielsen, and the motif is rendered with an eye for both the bird's strength and its vigilant calm. The curved beak, the sharply defined eyes and the upright posture give the figurine a natural tension that makes it decorative from every angle. It appears as a strong example of Bing & Grøndahl's bird figurines, where nature study and porcelain craftsmanship meet in a form that still seems convincing today.

As a porcelain figurine, this sparrowhawk fits beautifully into a collection of Danish animal figurines, but it also stands well on its own on a shelf, on a desk or in a display cabinet. It can be combined with other bird figurines from Bing & Grøndahl and Royal Copenhagen if one wishes for a classic expression with Nordic nature as the recurring theme. For collectors, figurine number 1892 is a relevant search object, and for the design enthusiast it is a decorative object with history, character and lasting value.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to add personality to the home. They are created to last a long time and can still be used as a beautiful part of the décor generation after generation. This also makes them a sustainable choice for you who would like to be surrounded by design with soul and preserve the joy of fine craftsmanship.
