Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 4020 Woman with grapes Kai Nielsen

Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 4020 "Woman with grapes" is a sensual porcelain figurine with a soft and calm expression. The figurine depicts a reclining woman lying close against a bunch of grapes, and the motif unites the human form with a classic, almost sculptural natural motif. The light Blanc de Chine execution emphasizes the calm lines and gives the figurine a clean, subdued expression, where form and volume are allowed to stand completely forward.

Kai Nielsen is known for his lively formal language, and that is felt in this figurine. The position of the body is modeled with great sensitivity, so that the porcelain figurine takes on an almost dreamlike character. The rounded forms, the relaxed posture, and the interplay with the grapes give the figurine a distinct decorative strength, which makes it suitable both as an art figurine and as a striking feature in the interior.

This Bing & Grøndahl figurine fits beautifully on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or as part of a collection of Danish porcelain figurines. The white porcelain surface makes it easy to combine with both classic and modern home decor, where it adds calm, character, and a touch of Danish design history. For collectors, figurine no. 4020 is also interesting as a work by Kai Nielsen and as an example of Bing & Grøndahl's work with Blanc de Chine figurines.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to create personality in the home. When you choose original porcelain with history, you also choose a piece of design that is created to last and be appreciated for many years. That makes the figurine an obvious choice for both collectors and for those who want craftsmanship with soul and lasting value.
