Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 4022 woman and child with grapes

Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 4022 shows a woman and a child in a close and calm motif, where the grapes give the figurine a soft, classic expression. The composition is cohesive and harmonious, with the kneeling woman and the small child closely connected in a scene that exudes care, closeness and everyday life. It is a porcelain figurine with a poetic formal language, which makes it suitable both for collectors and for those who are fond of older Danish figurative art.

The figurine is designed by Kai Nielsen for Bing & Grøndahl and executed in Blanc de Chine. The light, uniform porcelain surface emphasizes form and movement rather than colors, and precisely for that reason the modeling stands out clearly. One especially notices the calm posture, the rounded shapes and the interplay between the woman, the child and the bunch of grapes, which gives the figurine life and narrative without seeming crowded.

As a Kai Nielsen figurine, this Bing & Grøndahl porcelain figurine also appeals to collectors seeking human figures with character and artistic weight. The motif of woman and child makes it ideal in an interior where one wants a personal feature with warmth and history. It works beautifully on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as part of a collection of classic porcelain figurines from Bing & Grøndahl.

Older porcelain figurines like this one contain a special joy, because they are created to last and to be appreciated for many years. Choosing vintage porcelain is also a way to give good craftsmanship new life. The figurine therefore fits well into a modern home, where design with soul, history and sustainable consideration is allowed to take up space.
