Bing & Grøndahl figurine Boy on fish no. 34 or 4034

This Bing & Grøndahl figurine with the motif Boy on fish combines childlike movement and sculptural calm in a small, poetic expression. The figurine was modelled by Kai Nielsen and depicts a nude boy leaning forward over a fish in a lively, almost playful pose. The simple design language and the light Blanc de Chine technique give the figurine a soft, pure and classic expression that fits beautifully into both a collection and a personal interior.

The motif has the special blend of fantasy and naturalism that many collectors associate with older Danish porcelain figurines. The boy's posture and the organic form of the fish create a fine sense of movement, while the light surface highlights the details of the modelling. It is a porcelain figurine that appears calm from a distance, but becomes more interesting the closer you look at it.

Kai Nielsen is a sought-after name within Danish figurative art, and this Bing & Grøndahl figurine is a good example of his sure sense of form and character. For collectors of Kai Nielsen figurines, Bing & Grøndahl porcelain and classic human figurines, Boy on fish no. 34 or 4034 is an obvious choice. The figurine also appeals to those who are fond of maritime motifs, child figurines and older porcelain with history and soul.

A figurine like this adds something personal and lasting to the home. It can stand alone on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as part of a larger collection of Danish porcelain figurines. It is precisely older quality figurines like this that are made to last a long time and can find new life in a modern home, where they contribute both cultural history, craftsmanship and sustainable charm.
