Porcelain figurine bricklayer no. 10118, marked GDR and crown

This porcelain figurine of a bricklayer captures a classic moment from the world of craftsmanship. The figurine shows a bricklayer in the middle of work with a trowel in one hand and a brick in the other, while one foot is placed by the mortar tub and the body leans against a half-finished wall. The motif brings the figurine to life and tells of professionalism, calm at work and the pride of a craft that builds something lasting.

The colors are kept in calm, muted tones with light work trousers and jacket, blue sweater, dark shoes as well as details in gray, beige and dusty reddish shades on brick and masonry. This gives the figurine a harmonious and cohesive expression, where the small elements such as wall, tool and tub help emphasize the motif as a craft figurine and occupational figurine. The smooth glaze and the fine modeling also highlight porcelain's special ability to reproduce both movement and details.

For collectors of porcelain figurines, craft figurines and motifs from working life and farm life, this is a figurine with distinct character. A bricklayer figurine like this also fits beautifully on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as a personal gift for a bricklayer, a craftsman or someone who is fond of figurines with a story and historical atmosphere. Older porcelain figurines like this often have a special charm because they combine decorative value with a story about profession, tradition and fine craftsmanship.

It is also a fine way to bring more personality into the interior decor. Where new objects can often seem uniform, a figurine with history and thematic weight adds something more individual. Here you get a porcelain figurine that appeals both to the collector and to the person who appreciates craftsmanship, cultural history and decorative art with soul.
