It is signed with "Otto P" at the bottom and measures 25 cm in height. - As seen in the pictures, it has a crack across her legs, but it is completely stable, so probably an old repair.
Otto Pedersen (1902 - 1995) was a highly recognized artist from Funen, who had a background from the Technical School in Odense and was a self-taught sculptor. He was also a member of the Funen Spring Exhibition, where he presented his works.
His works were exhibited at prominent exhibitions, including the Spring Exhibition in Odense, the Artists' Autumn Exhibition, Fyns Forum, the National Gallery of Denmark, and many more.
Already in his early works, he used wood as a material to create the characteristic and delicate female figures he is known for. This specific piece is no exception.
The wooden figure is carved from light wood and depicts a woman stretching her arms down and behind her back.
It is signed with "Otto P" at the bottom and measures 25 cm in height.
This figure shows signs of age and use, a truly beautiful authentic piece of Danish art.
