Hjorth ceramic figurine seated bear in brown glaze

This seated bear figurine from Hjorth has a calm and straightforward expression, which makes it easy to like. The small ceramic figurine is modelled with a simple, rounded shape, where the head, ears and paws are gathered in a compact silhouette. The dark brown glaze gives the figurine depth and warmth, and the light variations in the surface highlight the shapes in a fine and natural way.

Bear figurines from Hjorth belong to the Bornholm ceramic tradition, which many collectors and design enthusiasts are especially fond of. Here, the expression is simple, charming and without superfluous details. That is precisely what makes the figurine suitable both as a small collector's item and as a decorative ceramic figurine for a shelf, windowsill, desk or a quiet arrangement together with other ceramic figurines.

The seated bear fits well into a home where one likes to mix older design and applied art with newer interior decor. The dark glaze works beautifully together with wood, books, stoneware and Nordic natural colours. As vintage ceramics with history, it is also a fine choice for those who appreciate things with soul and like to decorate with quality objects that can still bring joy for many years to come.

The figurine is an obvious find for collectors of Hjorth, Bornholm ceramics and animal figurines, but it can also be a personal gift for someone who is fond of small ceramic figurines with character. The simple shape means that it stands well on its own, but it can also be combined with other bear figurines or ceramics in the same warm colour scale.
