About the item

Royal Copenhagen plate with Thorvaldsen Motif: Spring - Childhood
On this plate, the child plays by his mother's lap.
The series of Thorvaldsen's relief plates has four motifs, which relate both to the four seasons and to four ages for the man. Spring, summer, fall and winter: Childhood, youth, manhood and old age. The plates are made in bisquit, ie glazed porcelain and the motifs are made in beautiful relief in the white classicist style, which Thorvaldsen was one of the foremost proponents of.
