Through almost 100 years Royal Copenhagen's Christmas plates have given people from all over the world inspiration to either visit or to refresh memories from Denmark. To celebrate this 100 year anniversary in 2008, Royal Copenhagen issues 5 carefully chosen plates and plaquettes from the period 1908-2008. This plate is the first in this series. Its motif is Strøget in Copenhagen, see Christmas plate from 1937. This street is the essence of Danish Christmas spirit. Between the buildings, many of them hundreds of years old, garlands made of fir branches, and from them stars lamps and bellsare suspended over the romantic, welcoming high street shops, while traders fill the street with Christmas articles throughout December.
