1990 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate, designed by Edvard Jensen, depicts the changing of the Guards at Fredensborg Palace. Fredensborg palace is the castle which is most often used by the Danish Royal family. The palace is an 18th century baroque palace, which is often used at official state visits. De Royal guard, which is seen in the plate, and whose foremost job i is to guard the Royal family, was founded by king Frederik 3. on June 30ieth 1658,and the guards thus have their 350ieth aniversary in 2008. Their uniforms, which include bearskin hats blue trousers with a white stripe, dark blue jackets, white joints and sables have been their uniforms from 1854.
