Royal Copenhagen Adonis Torso Sculpture black biscuit figure no. 076

Royal Copenhagen Adonis Torso Sculpture figure no. 076 is a striking porcelain figure, where the classic male body is interpreted in a modern, sculptural expression. The figure shows a male torso in a twisted and lively pose, executed in black biscuit porcelain, which gives the surface a matte and almost stone-like character. The dark expression emphasizes the body's shape, muscles and movement and gives the sculpture a strong presence in the room.

Adonis is drawn from Greek mythology and is associated with beauty, youth and transience. It is precisely this narrative that suits this torso figure, where the classical motif meets a contemporary design. The cut-off form and the tense twist in the upper body give the figure an artistic expression, which makes it interesting to observe from several angles. It appears both as a Royal Copenhagen figure, design object and small sculpture for home decor.

The figure is part of Royal Copenhagen's series Torso Sculptures, designed by Pia Langelund. The series was launched in 2005 and is created in biscuit porcelain, which is particularly well suited to the sculptural design. In the picture, the figure is seen mounted on a light base with a metal rod, which gives a lightly floating and exhibition-like expression. This makes it ideal as a decorative figure on a shelf, in a display cabinet, on a console table or as an artistic feature in a modern interior.

For collectors of Royal Copenhagen figures and for those who appreciate Danish design with a more contemporary formal language, Adonis is an exciting figure. It also works well as a gift idea for someone who is interested in art, mythology or Scandinavian porcelain design. A figure like this adds character to the home and shows how porcelain can also have a place as a modern sculpture.
