Bowling player figurine no. 2238 Bing & Grøndahl

This Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 2238 depicts a bowling player in the concentrated moment just before the ball is released. The motif is full of movement and presence, with the forward-leaning posture, one arm stretched forward and the bowling ball held close to the body. It is a sports figurine that captures the tension of the throw itself and turns it into a lively little moment in porcelain.

The figurine has a calm and naturalistic expression, where the position of the body and the balance in the movement are the defining elements. In the image, the player appears in light and darker shades, which emphasize the form of the figurine and give the motif depth. This very type of porcelain figurine appeals both to collectors of Bing & Grøndahl figurines and to those who appreciate sports motifs, vintage porcelain and Danish decorative art with character.

As a porcelain figurine executed in underglaze, it contains the classic quality that many associate with older figurines from Bing & Grøndahl. It works beautifully as part of a collection with child figurines, sports figurines or other human figurines, but can also stand alone as a personal feature in the home. A bowling figurine like this is also an obvious gift idea for a bowling enthusiast, a collector or for someone who appreciates figurative art with motifs from the world of sports.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to add history and personality to the home. They are made to last for many years and are a good example of how classic craftsmanship and recycling can go hand in hand. Choosing a figurine with history is also a way to give beautiful design new life in a contemporary interior.
