Bing & Grøndahl sailor figurine no. 2446 "KGL. MARINE"

This Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 2446 depicts a sailor from the navy in a calm and upright moment at the quay. The figure stands with a large white sack over his shoulder, dressed in a dark blue uniform and sailor cap, and beside him a mooring bollard can be seen on the light, cobbled base. On the cap is the text "KGL. MARINE", which gives the figure a distinct maritime identity and anchors the motif in Danish seafaring and naval history.

The motif has an earthy strength, which makes the figure interesting both for collectors of Bing & Grøndahl porcelain figurines and for those who are fond of naval figurines, sailor figurines and Danish design with a story. The dark blue underglaze stands out beautifully against the white details, and the interplay between uniform, sack and quay environment gives the figure life and direction. The upright posture and the simple maritime devices make it easy to place in an interior where one wants a touch of history, harbour environment and classic Danish porcelain art.

As a porcelain figurine, it combines craftsmanship, storytelling and collector value. Bing & Grøndahl is known for figurines with character and precise details, and here one gets a motif that speaks to an interest in the navy, naval life and Danish occupational figurines. The figurine fits well in a collection with other military figurines, seafaring-related objects or classic porcelain figurines with occupational motifs.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to add personality and soul to the home. They are created to last, to be collected and enjoyed for many years, and precisely for that reason they are also a beautiful choice for you who appreciate quality, history and the sustainability of letting fine craftsmanship live on from generation to generation.
