Bing & Grøndahl ballerina figurine no. 299797 in biscuit

This Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 299797 depicts a dancing young woman with a calm, almost floating lightness. The figurine stands with her head slightly bowed, her hair gathered in a bun and the long dress gently lifted in her hands, so that the movement in the motif clearly stands out. It is a ballerina figurine with a classic expression, where both posture and drapery convey the sense of grace, balance and stillness in the same moment.

Executed in biscuit, the figurine has a soft, matte and sculptural expression that suits the motif particularly well. The white surface highlights the fine folds in the dress, the body's slender lines and the simple base, which supports the figurine's upright posture. Biscuit in particular is loved by many collectors because the matte character of the material gives the porcelain figurine an almost marble-like appearance and emphasizes its artistic quality.

According to the existing knowledge, the figurine is modeled after Thorvaldsen's statue from 1837 in Rome. This gives this Bing & Grøndahl figurine an exciting connection between Danish porcelain art and the classical sculptural tradition. For collectors of porcelain figurines, ballerina figurines and older Danish design, it is a model with both decorative strength and historical interest.

As a vintage figurine, it adds soul and personality to the home and is at the same time a beautiful example of how good craftsmanship can live on from generation to generation. It fits nicely in a quiet arrangement with other white porcelain figurines, on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as part of a collection of dance figurines and classical female figurines. It is also an obvious gift idea for anyone who appreciates ballet, sculpture or Bing & Grøndahl porcelain with history.
