Bing & Grøndahl Child with grapes figure no. 4021 Kai Nielsen

Child with grapes is a characterful Bing & Grøndahl figure, in which Kai Nielsen combines the child's rounded forms with a lush motif of heavy grape clusters. The figure shows a small child sitting close against the grapes and holding a cluster up to the mouth, giving the motif a lively and almost narrative expression. It is a porcelain figure with plenty of presence, where both posture and composition make it an eye-catcher in the collection.

What immediately catches the eye is the interplay between the child and the many grapes, which almost envelop the figure. The glossy, dark grape clusters stand in beautiful contrast to the child's lighter areas, and the close, huddled position gives the figure a calm and intimate atmosphere. Kai Nielsen is known for his human figures with soft lines and a sense of body language, and here this is expressed in a sculptural porcelain figure that appears both decorative and full of life.

As a vintage figure from Bing & Grøndahl, it also contains the special value that older Danish design and porcelain have today. It is the type of decorative art and collector's item that adds personality and history to the home, while at the same time it is a sustainable choice to let quality craftsmanship live on in new surroundings. The figure fits beautifully in a bookcase, a display cabinet, or as part of a collection with Kai Nielsen figures and other classic Bing & Grøndahl porcelain figures.

The motif makes it ideal for collectors of child figures, human figures, and Danish porcelain art, but also for those who want a figure with more character than something purely decorative. The child's concentrated movement and the organic grape forms give the model a special weight and warmth that make it interesting from several angles.
