Bing & Grøndahl Man and woman figure no. 4023 Kai Nielsen

Bing & Grøndahl figure no. 4023 by Kai Nielsen shows a man and woman in a close, intertwined composition, where the bodies almost glide into each other. The motif has a calm, sensual and sculptural character, and the white Blanc de Chine execution emphasizes the figure's soft forms and the fine interplay between light and shadow. It is a porcelain figure that appeals both to collectors of Bing & Grøndahl and to those who appreciate classical Danish figurative art with a human and timeless expression.

Kai Nielsen is known for his lively figures and sure sense of movement and anatomy, and this is clearly felt here. The man and woman are modelled in a close pose, where the figure takes on an almost circular movement. This gives the work a special intimacy and makes it interesting to view from several angles. At the same time, the light porcelain surface gives the figure a pure and calm expression, which fits beautifully into both classic and modern interiors.

As a Blanc de Chine figure, it has a simple and refined formal language, where it is the modelling rather than the colours that carries the whole. Precisely for that reason, this type of porcelain figure is also ideal for you who appreciate sculptural form, Danish design history and older quality objects with lasting appeal. A figure like this brings personality into the home and is a sustainable choice for the one who wishes to preserve good craftsmanship and give older design new life.

The figure can stand alone in a display cabinet, on a chest of drawers or in a bookcase, where its white porcelain and organic forms are allowed to stand out. It is also well suited as a gift for a collector or for a recipient who appreciates romantic figures, classical porcelain and Danish craftsmanship with history.
