Bing & Grøndahl Mother's Day figurine 2003 suckling pig no. 1916903

This Bing & Grøndahl Mother's Day figurine from 2003 depicts a suckling pig, modeled with a lively and charming expression. The figurine sits slightly turned with upright ears, a small curly tail and an attentive gaze, which gives the motif both personality and warmth. The light glaze and the soft shapes emphasize the calm, classic expression that makes the figurine easy to place in the home all year round.

The suckling pig is part of the series of B&G Mother's Day figurines, which is of great interest among collectors of both figurines and plates. Specifically for the 2003 Mother's Day figurine, it applies that the animal is the same as on Bing & Grøndahl's Mother's Day plate from the same year. Therefore, this figurine is an obvious choice if you collect Bing & Grøndahl Mother's Day figurine, B&G Mother's Day figurine or wish to supplement a 2003 Mother's Day plate with the accompanying figurine in the same motif universe.

The figurine is designed by Pia Langelund and made in porcelain with underglaze, which fits beautifully with Bing & Grøndahl's tradition for fine animal figurines and collectibles. The small suckling pig is rendered with a natural posture and fine details in the head, legs and face, so that it functions both as an independent porcelain figurine and as part of a larger collection. For collectors, it may be the missing figurine in the row of B&G Mother's Day figurines, while for others it will be a decorative animal figurine with a gentle and homely expression.

Older porcelain figurines like this one also contain the joy of preserving good design that is created to last. A figurine with history and collector's value adds personality to the interior and is at the same time a sustainable choice when beautiful craftsmanship is allowed to live on in new surroundings.
