Royal Copenhagen Bode Willumsen figurine 1947 woman by well with firing flaw

This rare Royal Copenhagen figurine by Bode Willumsen tells a small, down-to-earth story from everyday life. The motif shows a woman by a well, captured in the midst of work with the characteristic carrying pole over her shoulder. The figurine has a vivid and narrative expression, where both posture and surroundings help create an atmosphere of rural life, toil, and daily chores around the water post.

It is precisely the interplay between person and environment that makes the figurine so interesting. The tall well post, the small tub, and the detailed base with floral decoration give the motif depth and character. The woman's white apron, patterned head covering, and the fine color accents create contrast with the more rustic parts of the well. Here you get a figurine with both narrative, craftsmanship, and distinct personality.

On the underside, the figurine is marked with the year 1947 as well as the handwritten text "VAND ER VAND, DET KAN EN KO SE." In addition, the signature "Bode Willumsen." is visible. The visible text is an important part of the figurine's identity and collector's value, because it closely ties the work to both the artist and the specific execution. For collectors of Royal Copenhagen figurines and Danish ceramic design, it is a model that stands out with its folk motif and its distinctive narrative.

Older figurines like this have a special presence in the interior. They bring history, character, and originality into the home and are at the same time a fine example of how quality art and decorative art can be preserved and appreciated across generations. The figurine is well suited as a collector's item, as an eye-catcher in a display cabinet, or as a gift for someone who appreciates Danish design history.

Please note that this figurine is sold with a firing flaw, which is also evident from the existing title and is therefore part of the correct item description.
