Dahl Jensen bird figurine Waxwing no. 1243 in porcelain

This bird figurine from Dahl Jensen depicts a waxwing and has the calm, lifelike expression that makes classic Danish porcelain figurines so sought-after. The bird is modeled sitting on a branch with leaves, and the soft transitions in the glaze highlight the characteristic crest on the head, the light breast front, and the finely drawn wings. The motif has a calmness and precision that makes the figurine decorative both on its own and together with other bird figurines in porcelain.

Jens Peter Dahl Jensen is known for his many animal and bird figurines, and the bird motifs in particular have a special place in his production. Here you get a porcelain figurine where form language and glaze work beautifully together: the subdued shades of beige, brown, gray and blue bring the figurine to life, while the glossy surface emphasizes the details in the plumage. Several sources list this model as Waxwing no. 1243, and one source states the height as 14 cm.

A Dahl Jensen figurine like this fits well in a collection of Danish porcelain, but it also works beautifully as a standalone feature in the decor on a shelf, in a display cabinet or on a desk. Erotic? Wait no. Its natural motif and calm color scheme make it easy to combine with both classic and modern interior styles. For many, older porcelain figurines are also a meaningful way to decorate with objects that have already proven their durability and can continue to bring joy for many years to come.

For collectors, the waxwing is an attractive motif, and for the gift buyer, it is a personal gift idea for someone who loves birds, Danish design and porcelain with a history. The figurine contains both craftsmanship, character and the special atmosphere that vintage porcelain adds to a home.
