Royal Copenhagen The Princess and the Swineherd figurine no. 1114 with pedestal, Unica

Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 1114 depicts The Princess and the Swineherd in a close and narrative moment, taken from H.C. Andersen's well-known fairy tale. The figurine is modeled with a vivid expression, where the two figures lean in toward each other in a kiss, and the motif contains both theatrical atmosphere, fairy tale, and classic Danish figurative art. Together with the pedestal, the arrangement gains extra height and character, so the figurine appears as a small scene in porcelain.

Christian Thomsen has created a composition with many fine details. The Princess is seen in a light dress with small golden decorations, while the swineherd wears a light blue jacket with dots and holds his hat in his hand. On the pedestal a pig motif can be seen, which emphasizes the story and makes the whole even more complete. It is precisely this connection between figurine and base that gives the work its special charm as a fairy-tale figurine and collector's item.

This is a Royal Copenhagen porcelain figurine executed in underglaze, and the model appeals both to collectors of royal porcelain, H.C. Andersen motifs, and classic human figures. The figurine can stand alone in a display cabinet, on a shelf, or as part of a collection with fairy-tale figurines and older porcelain figurines with history. As an older figurine, it also carries the special value that lies in preserving fine craftsmanship and letting beautiful quality objects live on in the home instead of choosing new production.

This edition is referred to as Unica and is signed "Privat". The pedestal is included. The figurine tilts slightly on the pedestal, which is worth being aware of when placing it. For collectors and connoisseurs, this is a decorative and narrative Royal Copenhagen figurine, where motif, model number, and overall expression make it easily recognizable.
