Royal Copenhagen H.C. Andersen figurine no. 223 The Little Match Girl

Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 223 depicts The Little Match Girl from H.C. Andersen's well-known fairy tale. The figurine reproduces the quiet and moving scene with the girl seated on a light base, wearing a blue dress with visible worn areas and with the lit matches gathered in her hands. It is a porcelain figurine with a motif that contains both fairy tale, reflection and strong storytelling, and which therefore appeals to collectors of Royal Copenhagen figurines and H.C. Andersen figurines.

The expression is calm and heartfelt. The slightly bowed head, the closed eyes and the small flame create an atmosphere that makes the figurine recognizable to everyone who is fond of classic fairy tale figurines in porcelain. The blue shades, the fine details in the clothing and the white base emphasize the delicate character of the motif, while the underglaze decoration gives the surface the depth and glow that many associate with Royal Copenhagen.

The figurine belongs to the series of H.C. Andersen Figurines, which consists of 8 figurines. Here, The Little Match Girl is an obvious choice for anyone who collects fairy tale figurines, Danish porcelain or figurines with a literary motif. It fits beautifully in a display cabinet, on a shelf or as part of a collection with other figurines from the same series. At the same time, it is a figurine with history and soul, which can still add personality to the home and be a sustainable choice for anyone who appreciates older quality objects created to last.

As a gift idea, this Royal Copenhagen figurine is also an obvious choice for collectors, for the fairy tale enthusiast or for anyone who is fond of Danish design tradition and classic porcelain figurines with a story. The motif is among H.C. Andersen's most well-known, and precisely for that reason the figurine has a special place among collector's items from Royal Copenhagen.
