The motif of this 1977 Desiree Christmas plate from the Porcelain Factory Desiree, also known as Désirée Denmark, Svend Jensen of Denmark, Old Copenhagen Blue is found in the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale The Snow Man. On the second day of his life The Snowman in the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale is enjoying the whole lot which he can see in the cellar through the windows. The watchdogis jumping around The Snow Man and telling The Snowman about his predecessors. Among other things the watchdog is telling him how the sun destroyed the predecessors and what would happen to him if he got into the sitting room with the stove. The Christmas plate has been designed by Svend Otto S. Désirée started the Christmas plate series in 1970 and ended it in 2002. All motifs of the Hans Christian Andersen Christmas plates from Désirée were inspired by Hans Christian Andersen´s Fairy Tales
