Royal Copenhagen The Soldier and the dog from The Tinderbox figurine no. 1156

The Soldier and the dog from The Tinderbox is a characterful Royal Copenhagen figurine that brings H.C. Andersen's fairytale world into the home with both humor, movement and storytelling. The figurine shows the soldier in his red uniform with a tall black hat, while he carries the large dog in his arms. The interplay between the two figures brings the motif to life and makes the figurine a striking eye-catcher for those who appreciate Danish porcelain, fairytale figurines and classical figurative art.

Christian Thomsen has created a porcelain figurine with clear drama and personality. The upright soldier, the expressive dog and the decorative construction with chest and checkered textile give the figurine a stage-like effect that perfectly suits the motif's fairytale origin. The colors stand beautifully in overglaze with warm red and golden shades, light blue trousers and fine details in the face, uniform and the dog's expression.

As a Royal Copenhagen figurine, this is a collector's item with great appeal to both porcelain collectors and those who want a figurine with history and storytelling. Fairytale figurines have a very special ability to create atmosphere in the interior, whether they stand in a display cabinet, on a shelf or as part of a personal collection of Danish design and decorative arts. Older porcelain figurines like this one in particular contain the type of craftsmanship and richness of motif that make them worth preserving and enjoying for many years to come.

This figurine is also ideal as a gift for a collector, for a lover of H.C. Andersen or for someone who appreciates porcelain figurines with character and cultural-historical roots. A vintage Royal Copenhagen figurine like this adds soul to the home and is at the same time a beautiful example of how classic porcelain can still have a natural place in modern interior design.
