Royal Copenhagen Faun on tree stump figurine no. 1738

Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 1738 depicts a faun on a tree stump, designed with the poetic and nature-inspired mood that makes classic porcelain figurines so sought after. The figurine shows the little faun in a reclined, almost dreamy posture, with the face turned upward and the body resting lightly against the stump. This gives the motif a vivid expression with both calm, fantasy, and movement.

Theodor Madsen has created a figurine in which human and mythological features merge beautifully. The light upper body stands in beautiful contrast to the faun's darker legs and furry details, while the green tree stump adds a natural base to the motif. The soft transitions in the underglaze emphasize the figurine's organic forms and give the surface depth and character.

As a Royal Copenhagen porcelain figurine, this is a piece of Danish figurative art that appeals to both collectors and those who want a decorative feature with personality. The faun is a classic motif with roots in mythology and nature storytelling, and precisely for that reason the figurine works well in an interior where one wants something more narrative than pure decoration. It fits beautifully in a display cabinet collection, on a shelf with other porcelain figurines, or as a standalone art object that is allowed to attract attention.

For collectors of Royal Copenhagen faun figurines, figurine no. 1738 is at the same time a motif that stands out with its relaxed pose and expressive formal language. Older porcelain figurines like this carry a special charm because they are created with an eye for detail and keep their place in the home through generations. Choosing a figurine with history is also a beautiful way to give fine craftsmanship new life and let classic Danish design live on in a modern interior.
