Royal Copenhagen Faun crying seated figurine no. 1061

This Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 1061 depicts a seated, crying faun in an unusually emotional and human posture. The figure sits huddled with its hands up to its face, while the head bends forward, making the expression both thoughtful, vulnerable, and strong at the same time. It is precisely the kind of characterful details that make a faun figurine like this something quite special for collectors of Danish porcelain and classical figurative motifs.

The faun is modelled by Knud Kyhn, who is known for his vivid and atmospheric figures. Here, the mythological motif is combined with an almost childlike body language that gives the figure presence and personality. The flowing underglaze in white and grey shades beautifully emphasizes the shapes and highlights the back, face, legs, and the small tail. This gives the figure a calm, almost dreamlike expression, even though the motif contains clear movement and emotion.

As a Royal Copenhagen porcelain figurine, this faun belongs among the models that appeal to collectors of Knud Kyhn, faun and troll figurines, as well as lovers of older Danish design. The crying, seated faun stands out from more decorative figures by having a narrative motif that arouses curiosity and allows room for interpretation. It is a figurine that looks beautiful in a display cabinet collection, on a shelf, or as a characterful feature in a personal interior with art and decorative arts with a history.

Older porcelain figurines like this one are a reminder of the value of preserving fine craftsmanship and design created to last. When you choose a figurine with history and soul, you get not just a decorative object, but also a piece of Danish porcelain tradition that can still bring joy in a modern home.
